Day seven: Dusseldorf, Germany

Dominik is so awesome that he put together an itenerary for us. He really enjoys sharing with people what Germany has to offer.

First things first, IKEA BREAKFAST. Yes, this totally happened. Apparently it's a "thing" here. Cheap. We'll take it. We got there before the store opened so we had some time to lounge around a bit.

When in Germany, drive really fast on the Autobahn. I think we got up to 180km/hr Weeeee, so fun! (Yes, this is legal).

Next stop was Christo's Big Air Package exhibition.

This was seriously incredible! This arist has done several things over the years. He's a genius. Being inside of this giant air package was one of the most wonderful things we've ever experienced. You just lay on the groud and look up into what seems an infinite white universe.

A picture of the air package being put together.

We took a lift up to the top of the air package.

That's how high we went. Yeah figure it out on your own.

We got a fabulous view of the city from the top.

No caption needed.

After the exhibition we walked over to near by shopping center which is supposed to be the biggest in Düsseldorf.

Addendum per Dominik: " hey...maybe you can edit your blog, but that shopping mall is the greatest of Europe and it's located in Oberhausen ;) "

Poor Dominik stood by watching us shop around at H&M (you can tell he's a good big brother, ha). Following a cheap mall meal, we headed to find a castle!

Only a short 30 minute walk away from where we parked (not! more like a hike)

It's okay though because the scenery was amazing. Claudia can finally say she's been hiking, and in jeans!

Akward mountain picture.

We (not so soon) reached a little village. So cute!

Some of these houses were over 700 years old.

Once we reached the top of the trail, there was still more to go. We took a lift up the mountain.

Finally reached our destination.

If anyone wants to get maried in a castle, you can rent this room out for about 2,000€!

Hello from the top of the mountain.

Although our day was packed with other activities, we couldn't wait to get to the fair! Biggest fun fair on the Rhine. 112 years and counting.

These were our roommates at the hostel. Very nice couple from Indiana who is also traveling for a few weeks. We invited them to join us.

This happened. We didn't share.

Just ridiculous.

Dominik and Claudia totally rode this baby.

What a fun day! Making friends and memories.

Cheers.
