Day four: Roman baths and a proper night out

Yesterday was day two in Bristol, England. After getting some much needed rest, we decided to take a drive and spend the early afternoon in Bath, England. Amy and Guy have been great hosts! We're so lucky to have friends around the world. Bath is amazing. The old buildings are gorgeous. Of course we had to take a picture in front of The Cressent as you walk into Bath.

Can you believe people actually live in these?! Yes, very rich people. Saw a For Sale sign listing it at 1.5 million £! (Yes, that is a lot of U.S. dollars)

Our trip to Bath would't have been compete without at least one akward tourist picture (Claudia's project for the trip). That was one big tree!

Walking down Union Street (we think). There were a lot of cute little shops. Bakeries always display their breads.

We even did a little "Charity Shop" shopping (their version of Goodwill).

More Union Street shots. Ethan and Dexter tipping this great guitarist.

Our trip to bath confirmed our obsession with these baguette sandwiches. We had them in Dublin for the first time, SO GOOD. Very cheap as well, 2£ for a Ham and Brie baguette. Well worth it! Mouths are watering again just thinking about it.

Some pictures of Bath Abbey. These cathedrals keep getting better and better as our trip goes on.

We decided to tour the Roman Baths. 12£ well worth it (with your student discount). We got audio tour speakers to hang around our necks and there were stations throughout the entire complex. We learned so much and it got us super pumped for our stop in Rome later in our trip!

Was incredible to think that we walked where the Romans once walked. This was the "Main Bath", it was once covered by a dome structure.

Standing above where the hot spring water runs through the baths.

Awkward tourist picture in Bath #2.

Sitting where the Romans sat (naked).

There was once a floor that laid out on top of these tile pillars. The hot spring water ran throughout and heated the room (what we would call a sauna!).

SOMEONE (Kara) insisted that we needed to dip our feet in just so we could say we did...

Five minutes later, we saw this posted sign.

For some reason, there were Coke reps sanding outside of the Roman Baths when we got out. They were handing out mini Marc Jacobs Diet Cokes? Okay.

After taking in all the history that the Roman Baths had to offer, we decided it was time to have some mindless fun. The local grocery store has their own brand of cider, buying a couple was a must. We were also finally able to buy some razors. So yes, yesterday was the day we finally got to shave.

Beautiful ladies!

Found a minion walking trough The Waterfront.

The Stable had 60+ different types of ciders! We couldn't decide what we wanted to get started so we got a "taste board". We got a strange look when I called it a flight.

All organic ingredients. SOOO good!

The Police.

Cheers.

  2. Loving how you guys are updating this blog every day! The second picture from the top - made me immediately think of the chimney sweeps from Mary Poppins. How were all of the ciders? That pizza looks like it was so delicious!
